Japanese executive dies in traffic accident in central Vietnam

A serious collision between a motorbike and a truck occurred in the central city of Da Nang on Wednesday, killing a Japanese senior executive of a city-based company and severely injuring a Vietnamese employee. 

>> Traffic accident kills 6, injures 12 in northern Vietnam The accident happened at 1:45 pm yesterday on Road 4 in the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park in Lien Chieu District, killing Taka Hashi Hide, 42, deputy general director of Seto Vietnam Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of automobile electric motors. At that time, Hide was carrying Ha Thi Bich H., an 18-year-old Vietnamese employee of the company, on a motorbike when his vehicle was hit by a truck driving in the opposite direction, causing him and his staff to fall to the ground. Hide died on the spot as the truck ran over him, while H. was seriously injured and taken by witnesses to the Da Nang General Hospital. As the driver of the truck sped away to flee from the scene, witnesses recorded the vehicle’s plate number, BKS 43S – 8235, and called police. Local traffic police arrived soon after, examined the scene, and collected related information from eyewitnesses.   Police officers then began a search for the hit-and-run driver and later stopped him on Road 3 nearby and detained the man. The driver has been identified as Le Quang Binh, 31, who hails from the central province of Quang Nam but lives in Da Nang. Police are probing the cause of the accident.
