Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang said Vietnam wishes to promote multifaceted cooperation with Japan, especially in building market economic institutions, strengthening infrastructure and developing human resources. The president made the statement at a reception held in Hanoi last Saturday for the visiting Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance (JVFPA) Nikai Toshihiro and representatives of a number of leading Japanese groups. Since Vietnam and Japan established their strategic partnership, the two countries have cooperated extensively in various areas such as trade, investment, politics, foreign affairs, and culture, Sang said. Currently, Japan is Vietnam’s leading economic partner, Sang added.

The President thanked Japan for granting official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam despite the global economic turmoil, and suggested that the two countries create more favorable conditions for Japanese investors in Vietnam.

Sang said he hoped that the JVFPA would continue making contributions to promote the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as encourage the Japanese Government to step up all-round ties with Vietnam.

JVFPA Chairman Toshihiro has highly appreciated Vietnam’s achievements over time and said he believed that the two countries’ relations will continue to be strengthened and developed.
