A middle-aged man was mercilessly slashed by two unidentified men in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday, with his right hand nearly ripped off.

The victim, 41-year-old Nguyen Do Thanh Binh, was riding his motorbike on Dinh Tien Hoang Street in Binh Thanh District at around 3:30 pm, when the strangers approached him on another motorbike.

One of the men suddenly slashed Binh repeatedly with a machet, causing serious injuries to his head and leg, while nearly cutting off his right forearm.

After the sudden attack, Binh fell to the ground and fainted, before being rushed to the nearby Gia Dinh Hospital.

He is still in critical condition due to blood loss.

The two attackers still remain at large and local police are asking public help in order to identify them.
