During their talks on phone on Wednesday on the 64th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between Vietnam and China, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his Chinese counterparts agreed to take measures to promote bilateral ties.

During his talks with General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping, Trong congratulated the Party, State and people of China on their achievements in economic development and enhancing the people’s living conditions over the past year.
The Vietnamese leader also extended Lunar New Year greetings to Chinese people, wishing them more success in their cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics.
For his part, Xi Jinping, who is also President of China, affirmed that the Party, State and people of China treasure the traditional friendship and neighborliness with Vietnam.
He also highly valued the success that the Vietnamese people have gained over the past year and wished Vietnamese people a happy New Year.
Highly speaking of the progress of Vietnam-China relations last year, the two leaders agreed on the key solutions for promoting the bilateral ties.
The two leaders pledged to boost the efficiency of the bilateral cooperation mechanisms in all areas, and strengthen people-to-people connections, especially among younger generations.
They also reached an agreement on the persistent coordination in maintaining peace, stability in the East Sea in accordance with the joint perspectives and agreement reached by senior leaders of the two countries.
