Politics:

-- Experts and scholars attending the international conference on the East Sea that opened yesterday in Hanoi, Vietnam suggested China to respect international laws in the maritime territorial dispute on East Sea. They judged that the China’s claims on East Sea are ambiguous.

Society:

-- The Typhoon Haiyan claimed the lives of 14 people and four others missing in Vietnam.

-- Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a plan to upgrade the justice academy to be able to train 500 judges and 300 procurators a year.

-- Authorities of the southern Binh Phuoc Province are planning to install electronic devices on taxi vehicles to prevent the fake taxis in the locality.

-- Vietnamese people will have chance to select their electricity suppliers after 2023 when the ‘competitive electricity market’ in Vietnam will be applied following a decision by the Prime Minister.

-- Trinh Van Ngoc, vice chief of the Market Surveillance Agency, said he is coordinating with other relevant bodies to stop Chinese goods illegally imported into Vietnam.

-- Industrial accidents claimed the lives of 78 workers in Ho Chi Minh City during the first nine months this year, according to the city’s Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs.

Business:

-- The Vietnam National Petroleum Group has announced to reduce the petrol price to 24,130 dong a liter of A92 petrol and 24,630 dong a liter of A95 petrol, down 250 dong per liter.

-- The National Assembly has approved a plan to call on investors for the construction project of the international airport Long Thanh in the southern Dong Nai Province, said the Transport Minister Dinh La Thang.

-- The National Assembly has planned the GDP growth of Vietnam will be around 5.8 percent a year in the coming two years.

-- Gold price in Vietnam has reached a low record in the last three years, with SJC bullion sold at VND36.54 million (US$1,757) a tael.

Sports:

-- Four Vietnamese bodybuilders Nguyen Van Lam, Pham Van Mach, Nguyen Anh Thong, and Luong Thi Ngoc Anh will leave for Hungary to take part in the World Bodybuilding Championship to be held from November 15-17.

-- Ajax FC, Barcelona FC, and Japan will send their football teams to take part in the International U-19 Tournament, Nutifood Cup, in Vietnam in 2014, said Vietnam Football Federation vice chairman Le Hung Dung.
