After saving nine of the 14 crewmembers of a fishing ship that sank off Ca Mau Province last Saturday, rescuers have found the bodies of three others stuck in the cabin of the sunken vessel. The ship, from Kien Giang Province, sunk off Hon Khoai Island early in the morning of October 13 after being hit by an unknown foreign cargo ship, the provincial High Command of Border Guards reported. The sinking was reported to the border guard force by Luu Van Tiet, 49, a man in the province’s Rach Gia City. The sunken ship is owned by Huynh Thi Mang, a woman from Rach Gia, Tiet said. The force then sent two rescue boats with 20 rescuers on board and a team of professional divers to the scene, which was located about 35 nautical miles southwest of the island. Later that day rescuers found and saved nine fishermen who were drifting at sea. After finding the three bodies yesterday afternoon, rescuers continued their efforts to search for the two remaining crewmembers. However, rescuers have faced difficulties caused by strong waves and violent winds, border guards said.
