The trade cooperation between Vietnam and Israel will be maintained even though violence is continuing in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli Ambassador in Hanoi said on Wednesday.
Israel remains committed to having policies to ensure a stable market and a safe environment for international investors despite the ongoing tension and conflict in Gaza, Meirav Eilon Shahar said at the inauguration ceremony of the Vietnam-Israel Commercial Committee in the Vietnamese capital.
Israel began a major offensive against Hamas in Gaza on July 8, following nearly a month of back-and-forth rocket attacks and airstrikes.
The ceremony in Hanoi was co-hosted by the Israeli Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, unveiling the Vietnam-Israel Commercial Committee, which is intended to support and boost bilateral trade between the two countries.
The commercial committee is a sub-division of the Vietnam-Israel Committee, which provides support for the Vietnamese community in Israel and vice versa.
The Vietnam-Israel Commercial Committee will help businesses of the two countries study and invest into each other’s markets, Omri Horowitz, president of the Vietnam-Israel Committee, said.
It will also be a place for cultural exchange of the two communities, he added.
Vietnam and Israel are scheduled to sign a free trade agreement by the end of this year, which is expected to remove complicated administrative barriers between the two states.
