US nonprofit agency seeks local applicants for GE grants

The Hanoi office of US-based nonprofit Institute of International Education (IIE) is looking for Vietnamese candidates for 10 scholarships funded by American conglomerate General Electric Company.

Candidates must be first-year full-time undergraduate students at designated Vietnamese universities, including top-tier schools Vietnam National University – Hanoi, Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City, and University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City.

They must also be studying business/management, engineering or natural sciences, have high academic performance, as demonstrated by first semester university results and high school transcripts, and demonstrate financial need.

A selection committee will evaluate all applications, with each applicant’s motivation and academic potential being assessed as well.

Scholarship winners will be granted US$1,150 annually for the next three years of their undergraduate program in Vietnam, in addition to an opportunity to be mentored by a GE business leader, participation in a specially designed leadership development seminar and community development projects.

Applications, comprising essays and other supporting documentation, must be submitted online and then in hard copy to Room 405, Building A2, Van Phuc Diplomatic Compound 298 Kim Ma, Ba Dinh, Hanoi by March 31 next year.
