Binh Thuan ready for VN’s 1st int’l hot balloon fest

Preparation for the first Vietnam Int'l Balloon Festival, to be held this week in the central coastal province of Binh Thuan, has been completed, according to Nguyen Thanh Tam, deputy chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

The event, themed “Bien Xanh – Cat Trang – Nang Vang” (Blue Sea, White Sand and Yellow Sunlight), will feature multiple activities including a trade fair, cuisine festival, flower garlands and colored lanterns festival, photo exhibition, kite surfing performances, dragon dances and street music shows.

The main activity during the event, the hot-air balloon performances will showcase 21 balloons at a height of 100-200m in the sky along Avenue 706B, which runs through the tourism town of Mui Ne. Balloons from 10 countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States have also arrived at the venue.

Vietnam’s team will also participate with four balloons capable of carrying up to six people each. Nightglow performances will also take place, adding more color to the event.

Thousands of visitors from around the world are expected to come, making the event the most anticipated event of the year in the locality.

The Vietnam Int'l Balloon Festival will take place from August 29 to September 3.
