-- The Vietnam Fisheries Association sent documents to China yesterday to protest Chinese authorities’ seizure of a fishing boat of Vietnam. The boat QNg 94912-TS was seized on July 3 when it was fishing in the Northern Gulf (or the Gulf of Tonkin).

-- The 14th conference of the 8th People’s Council (the law making agency) of Ho Chi Minh City opened this morning.

Society:

-- The retail petrol price in Vietnam went up to VND25,640 a liter, starting 8:00 pm yesterday.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Transport Department announced yesterday it had discovered 17 bus drivers using fake driving licenses.

-- As many as 2,000 out of 4,500 agencies producing supplementary food have been found violating food safety regulations.

-- Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien paid a working visit to three major hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday, expressing her concern about a patient overload.
