Two contracts to the effect were signed on Monday between Tran Ba Duong, CEO cum Chairman of THACO’s board of directors, and Jean-Yves Dossal, sales director of Asian operations under PSA Peugeot Citroen, at Rex Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City.

Under the deal, Peugeot will transfer the technology used for the manufacturing of CKD Peugeot cars to THACO by the end of 2013, and that for another model in 2014.

The technology transfer will cover almost all necessary technologies for the making of Peugeot cars, like wielding with the help of tools and robots, except the engine which will continue to be imported, said Jean-Yves Dossal.

In addition, the Vietnamese car makerwill become the exclusive distributor of Peugeot cars in Vietnam.

The two sides reached the agreement after Peugeot understood the actual production capacity of THACO following a field study at the company manufacturing facilities in Chu Lai Industrial Zone in the central province of Quang Nam.

Mr. Jean-Yves Dossal said this is the first stage in the process of a long-term cooperation between the two sides.
