Although the end of the rainy season is upon us, the water level of reservoirs of hydropower plants in southern Vietnam is at 3-7 meters lower than usual, according to the Southern Hydrometeorology Station.

Dang Van Dung, vice director of the station, said those reservoirs have decelerated the discharge of water to local rivers thanks to rains in recent days but the water level of the reservoirs is around 3-7 meters lower than normal.
Specifically, the water level of the Tri An reservoir in Dong Nai Province was at 58.5m on October 17, which is 3.5m lower than the normal level.
The water level of the Dau Tieng reservoir in Tay Ninh Province is 21.4m, or 3m lower than usual.
In the Thac Mo reservoir in Binh Phuoc Province, the water level is now 211.1m or 7m below the normal rate.
Dung added that the water level of those man-made lakes will be lower when the dry season comes, normally at the end of October every year, and so rivers will have less water in the coming months.
It will be a heavier mission for the Dau Tieng reservoir since it is tasked with providing water for irrigation networks in Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City and for the Saigon River to prevent the intrusion of sea water to save water supply factories.
