Thursday, October 31, 2013, 11:46 GMT+7

The first Japanese students of an exchange program concluded their visit this week to a Ho Chi Minh City high school where they had a great experience interacting with their Vietnamese peers.

Forty-five students from Genkai High School, of Japan’s Fukuoka Prefecture, visited Le Quy Don High School on Tuesday where they engaged in a musical event and played games with their hosts.

The students also gave presentations on their country’s culture in English and Japanese.

This exchange is part of a “Travel and Learn in Vietnam” program organized by the two countries to mark the 40th-year milestone of diplomatic ties.

Under this program, about 1,000 students from Fukuoka’s Meizen, Mizuma, Asakura, and Genkai High Schools will travel to Vietnam to learn about its culture from now until the end of the year.

Vietnam and Japan established diplomatic relations in September 1973.
