-- A 2m long tree branch, which has a diameter of 8cm, suddenly fell onto the head of a woman when she went across Dinh Tien Hoang street in Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City at about 6:00pm on Tuesday. She died on the way to hospital due to her head injury.
-- A big fire swept through 6 adjacent houses located in a small alley in Tan Quy ward in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 7 on Tuesday. There were no reports of human casualties.

-- The consumer price index (CPI) of Ho Chi Minh City in August increased by 0.68 per cent over last month after decreasing for two consecutive months, according to the municipal Statistics Office.

-- Vietnamese violinist Bui Cong Duy and singer Duc Tuan are set to perform at a diplomatic show in the Philippines on August 28 night, aimed at strengthening the two countries' relations. The show is organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines.
