Teenage swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien made history Sunday when she won a silver medal at the 9th Asian Swimming Championships in Dubai -- the first Asian-level silver trophy the country has ever achieved. The 16-year-old won at the women’s 200m breaststroke event on Sunday, and also smashed the Vietnam’s national record by clocking at 2:14. 47. Earlier she grabbed a bronze medal and set two new national records at the women’s 400m medley event. Meanwhile at the men’s 200m medley, Tran Duy Khoi only finished at the eighth position at 2:08.55, and only ranked 13th at the men’s 100m breaststroke event. Swimming talent Hoang Quy Phuoc also had poor result as he only stood at the 9th rank at the men’s 50m freestyle event.
