The top 3 Vietnamese fashion designers from the Project Runway Vietnamese edition will be selected tonight at its 7th episode for the final contest in the world’s fashion capital of Paris (France) on Sunday next week.
They will be picked by a 3-member jury including Vietnamese-American designer Chloe Dao, actress-model Ngo Thanh Van, and designer Do Manh Cuong, in the semi-final night of the reality show’s first season, also first reality show for fashion designers in Vietnam.
Artist Truong Ngoc Anh will be a special guest of the show which will be aired on a channel of Vietnam Television, VTV3, at 8:00pm. Her appearance is said to bring more challenges to the contestants.
The three selected tonight - out of 5 potential candidates: Nhu Lan, Bao Loan, Minh Ha, Chau Chan Hung and Gia Khang - will vie with one another for the crown in the final contest in Paris on Sunday next week.
This Paris round will be broadcast live on VTV3 at 8:00pm on 16 June.
Among the 2 female contestants, Nhu Lan, armed with a 3-year experience in backpacking, was in danger of being eliminated in the 3rd episode after winning the previous one with designs inspired by garbage.
Among the 3 remaining male candidates, Chau Chan Hung is the oldest with 9 years experience before joining the contest. He was the champion of “Vietnam Grandprix Collection 2005” and has been working for many well-known fashion brands in Vietnam.
Another candidate is Minh Ha, who was the winner of “Cam hung sang tao cung Triumph” (Inspired by Triumph) contest in 2008 and has many designs displayed at HCMC-based Designer House.
The Vietnamese version of Project Runway, a fashion reality show first aired in the US in 2004 for those gifted in fashion designs or those wishing to become top designers, is broadcast on VTV3 every Sunday starting April 28.
The US program, which was produced and broadcast in more than 100 countries like UK, Australia, Russia, the Republic of Korea, the Philippines and Finland, and attracts millions of views, was premiered in the US with German supermodel Heidi Klum acting as MC.
The winner of the first season of Project Runway Vietnam will receive VND500 million ($25,000) in cash and win a chance to introduce his/her winning collection on 8 pages in Harper’s Bazaar magazine. He or she can also be choosen to design a dress for actress/model Ngo Thanh Van so that she can show it off on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar. The winner can also win a contract to join Vietnamese Canifa’s team of designers. |
