Showers and heavy storms likely accompanied by whirlwinds and gusts are forecast to hit Vietnam this week, weather forecast centers say.

There will be clouds and widespread rain in the north during the week, with light and heavy rains accompanied by storms expected.

The central region has begun entering the rainy season, so it will be cloudy and rains are predicted to be scattered across the area. Thunder, vortexes, and squalls may form in the process.

The Central Highlands and southern provinces, including the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City, will see late afternoons and evenings dominated by steady precipitation. Temperatures will average 24 to 33 degrees Celsius throughout the week in these areas.

The heat will fade away while rain will gradually let up towards the end of the week all over the country.

Residents living by small rivers, hills, and mountains should constantly watch out for landslides and flash floods, whereas all ships should be wary of possible strong winds and huge waves in certain parts of the East Sea during the next few days.
