An explosive was thrown into the house of a police officer in a commune in Binh Phuoc Province on Saturday, but luckily the device did not cause casualties, authorities reported.

Commune police who were called to the scene found that the explosion occurred in the front yard of the house. After examining the scene, police said someone had thrown a homemade explosive into the yard. Chau and his family were not at home at the time of explosion, and no other people were near the yard, so the explosion caused no casualties. Before the incident occurred, Chau had taken part in cracking down on a number of gambling rings in the commune, authorities said. The provincial police are investigating the explosion.
A similar incident occurred on July 30, when a large explosion hit the private house of Colonel Tran Ngoc Khanh, director of the Police Department of Khanh Hoa central coastal province at 54 Phan Chu Trinh Street in Nha Trang city. There were no human casualties.
Two days later , police arrested Nguyen Viet Truong, 56, of Phuong Son Ward, Nha Trang city, who was suspected to have placed a bomb in the colonel’s house.
Truong pled guilty later. He told police that his motive was to paralyze the police’s investigation into serious allegations of wrongdoings in his business.
Another case happened in January when a big blast broke out at the house of Colonel Nguyen Nhu Tuan, director of Thai Nguyen Province Police Department, destroying part of the premises but luckily caused no human casualties.
