The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre on November 13 held a ceremony to celebrate the beginning of the Dien Phuoc Princess temple restoration project.

Funding for the 2.2 billion VND (104,760 USD) undertaking is coming from the UNESCO World Heritage Institute at Japan ’s Waseda University.

The temple was built in 1854 to worship Princess Dien Phuoc, the eldest daughter of King Thieu Tri, the third emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty reigning from 1824-1848.

The temple possesses extraordinary architecture, historical and cultural importance. It was built in traditional style with unique imperial palace construction techniques.

The majority of the temple’s interior decorations, including a bronze book on the Princess’ merit, are intact.
