-- Nguyen Thien Nhan, chairman of the central committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front – which is an umbrella group of mass movements in Vietnam, yesterday presided a meeting for the organization of an anniversary on the victory over the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia.

-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung agreed with the suggestion of the Vietnam Association of Historical Sciences to include information about Hoang Sa (Paracel), Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos and the East Sea in schoolbooks.

Society:

-- High tide in Ho Chi Minh City on early days of 2014 will reach 1.57m, the third danger level.

-- Police department of Hai Phong City and the central police department for administrative and social order management yesterday started its pilot project to grant citizenship code to 1.8 million people in the city. The code is designed to replace identity papers and family record books.

-- Thousands of households in districts 9 and Thu Duc had no clean water supply for three days till December 30 after a local water pipe was damaged.
