Many localities nationwide have carried out the collection of opinions about the draft amendments to the 1992 Constitution from grassroots and family levels to make sure everyone can contribute their opinions on this important document. In the northern Thai Binh province, the provincial People’s Council and People’s Committee have asked organisations, agencies and localities to work closely on the task and create favourable conditions for people to raise their ideas about the draft Constitution amendments. After two months of gathering comments on the draft document, Thai Binh has collected 54,800 opinions through 1,161 conferences and workshops. Meanwhile, the southern province of Binh Duong has organised a conference to assemble ideas contributing to the revised 1992 Constitution. Participants at the conference agreed that the draft revised Constitution meets the requirements of the country’s new situation and highlights human rights. Earlier on March 29, a group of 17 non-governmental and social organisations nationwide submitted to the Committee on Drafting Amendments to the 1992 Constitution opinions that they gathered from 980 people from various vulnerable groups in the society. The opinions were collected among people from ethnic minority groups, migrate workers, disable, homosexual, bisexual and transsexual people, adolescents, women and HIV-infected people in 13 provinces and cities nationwide.
