Monday, January 25, 2016, 14:07 GMT+7

A concert featuring 11 musical pieces which combine Eastern and Western melodies will take place in Ho Chi Minh City later this week.

The “Fusion Spring Melodies” will be held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on January 29 at the Municipal Theater at 7 Cong Truong Lam Son Street, District 1.

Centered on the fusion for dissemination theme, the performance is inspired by the idea of creating a music experience combining Vietnam’s traditional musical instruments and melodies of the modern rhymes of pop music on the solid background of classical music.

The event will feature well-known Vietnamese musicians and artists, including composer Tran Manh Hung, musician Nguyen Hoang Kim Quang, meritorious artist Tran VuongThach, scene-setter Tat My Loan, sound engineer Nhat Ly, artist Cao Ho Nga, and the Red Sun Band.

Under the command of world famous conductor Marius Stravinsky, the concert is expected to be an unprecedented fusion of Eastern and Western culture which will please both foreign and local audiences.

Following the first performance on January 29, “Fusion Spring Melodies” will regularly serve Vietnamese and international audiences in Vietnam and abroad in the near future, according to the organizers.

Marius Stravinsky is a British conductor who started playing the violin when he was four at the Moscow Central Music School.

He continued his studies at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Great Britain from the age of ten, and three years later became the first former Soviet student to secure a scholarship in music at Eton College in the UK.
