A massive race track has been inaugurated in southern Vietnam, where horse, dog and motorcycle races can be held regularly.
The complex is able to house a range of racing events, including horse, dog, motorcycle, go-kart, and jet ski racing as well as flyboard performances.
The 60-hectare Dai Nam Racing Complex can hold up to 20,000 spectators, with three giant LED monitors to allow a clear view of the races from any seat.
The venue cost a total of VND1 trillion (US$45 million) to build, and is part of a larger, 200-hectare culture, tourism and sporting complex in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province.
Located about 30 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, the racing venue is expected to replace Phu Tho Racing Track in the southern metropolis, which was closed down in 2011.
Its construction commenced in 2016, and the complex is slated to be the venue for future regional and international races held in Vietnam, according to Huynh Uy Dung, CEO of the developer Dai Nam Company.
Dang Minh Hung, deputy chairman of Binh Duong Province, asserted that the racing complex would be a good playing field for local sport enthusiasts.
For the time being, betting is not allowed at Dai Nam Racing Complex, Hung said, but the developer would soon ask for permission to provide the service when relevant laws are made available by the Ministry of Finance.
