Two police officers were killed and two others injured after their car was crushed between two trucks in the south-central Vietnamese province of Binh Thuan on Wednesday.
The tragic accident happened on the section of National Highway 1 in Thuan Nam Town, Binh Thuan, at around 10:00 pm, Pham Van Nam, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, confirmed on Thursday morning.
The vehicle was carrying Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Viet Lien, 57, Major Nguyen Tien Ich, 36, Nguyen Vo Binh Nguyen, and Nguyen Dinh Hai, who worked at the Binh Thuan Department of Police.
Their car was stopping behind a truck in a traffic jam when another truck, steered by 31-year-old Do Ngoc Chien, rear-ended the vehicle, pushing it to the vehicle at the front.

The collision killed Senior Lt. Col. Lien instantly while Maj. Ich succumbed to his wound at the hospital.
The other two officers were injured and are now being treated at the Binh Thuan Province General Hospital.
According to Colonel Nguyen Van Nhieu, chief of staff at the provincial police department, the four victims were on their way back from a business trip.
Competent agencies are carrying out an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
The Committee for Traffic Safety in Binh Thuan has visited the injured officers.
