The ‘secrets of Thai cuisine’ have been revealed to a Vietnamese audience in an event hosted by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday.

The event, titled “The Secrets of Thai Cuisine”, was a live cooking demonstration by the consulate-general in collaboration with CHU Hospitality Company and Siam Cement Group (SCG) Vietnam at the GRAIN Cooking Studio.

The show attracted more than 65 people from diplomatic agencies, renowned Vietnamese chefs, Vietnamese gastronomes and international expats in Ho Chi Minh City, among them several consul-generals as well as Vietnam’s celebrity food specialist Phan Ton Tinh Hai.

Chef Oliver Castella, a culinary director from Sindhorn Glass House and president of Les disciples d’Escoffier of Thailand and Chef Putchara Pheeraphak, chef de cuisine and sous chef at fine dining restaurant Saneh Jann Thai, led participants on an exciting culinary journey featuring traditional Thai dishes in a chef’s table-style format.

The event aimed to promote authentic Thai cuisine fused with modern cooking technique and to showcase the ease of cooking Thai food by sourcing locally available ingredients in Vietnam, according to Ureerat Ratanaprukse, Consul-General of Thailand to Ho Chi Minh City.

The event marked the first ‘chef’s table-style’ Thai food promotion in Ho Chi Minh City, which presented traditional Thai cuisine in a modern style without compromising flavor.
