Around 300 young delegates from Vietnam and other Asia Pacific countries attended the second Asia Pacific Youth Leaders Summit, with a focus on sustainability, last Wednesday in Ho Chi Minh City. Under the theme of ‘Action sustainably’, the summit’s discussion topics concentrated on four main fields: business, technology and innovation, environment and human capital. The event also welcomed the participation of representatives from multinational corporations like Microsoft, Tower Watson, and Nokia in a panel discussion and workshop. Young delegates raised various questions to corporate representatives on subjects ranging from eco-friendly methods deployed in international companies to how to prepare for a dream career while still in university. Organized by international student organization AIESEC, the summit is an opportunity for young people in the Asia Pacific region to gather, discuss problems and issues in their country and region, and network with likeminded individuals. “Attending international conferences not only helps my CV appear more impressive to recruiters, but also builds up contacts with talented people in other countries. I can also learn about greater perspectives of great people,” said Anh Tuan, a student from the city’s The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).
