Vietnamese authorities to work with Singaporean counterparts on entry denial

Vietnamese authorities to work with Singaporean counterparts on entry denial

Vietnamese aviation authorities on Wednesday submitted a document to the Ministry of Transport so that the ministry will work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a recent issue related to Vietnamese visitors being denied entry to Singapore for unknown reasons.

Many local carriers have complained that many of their Vietnamese passengers, mostly women, have had their entry to Singapore denied by the authorities there without clear reasons recently, according to the document from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

They have not been permitted to enter the country even though they have all necessary documentation, the document said.

They then have had to return home on the same airplanes of the Vietnamese carriers which brought them to Singapore earlier, following current obligations, causing extra costs for both the passengers and the carriers, it said.

To solve this issue, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should send a diplomatic note to its Singaporean counterpart asking for an explanation, the CAAV said in the document.

The Vietnamese civil aviation authority said it has also sent a letter to the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, asking the state-run body and Singaporean immigration officials to provide relevant airlines of the two countries with lists of Vietnamese individuals who are advised not to visit the city-state.

The list will help keep them updated so that they can actively implement appropriate measures to ensure the rights of passengers and reduce financial damage.

According to current law, Vietnamese people can visit Singapore for 30 days without a visa.
