A Vietnamese beauty contest winner is expected to present a golden lotus as a gift to the Miss Universe 2015 pageant in the U.S.
Pham Huong, who was crowned Miss Universe Vietnam in early October, will take part in the pageant, to be held from December 2 to 20.
At a press conference on Monday, Huong announced that she will bring a golden lotus to the beauty contest.
The artwork, plated with 24K, 99 percent pure gold, is considered the country’s national flower which depicts the strong will and spiritual values of the Vietnamese people.

Each year, contestants are required to bring a gift from their country which they then donate to a charity of their choice. Huong has recently finished a series of training courses to improve not only her communication, public speaking, and English skills, but also her physical appearance.

Miss Universe 2015 attracts over 80 contestants from countries around the world, including the UK, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, India, Australia, France, Singapore, and Canada.
The finale will take place at 8:00 pm on December 20 at Planet Hollywood Theater in Las Vegas.
The winner will be responsible for raising awareness of HIV/AIDS through numerous humanitarian activities.
