One of the contestants of the ongoing singing competition The Voice of Vietnam, Bao Anh, who has been criticized by many viewers due to her weak performances, was eliminated last night.
At the fifth live show on October 28, Bao Anh was among four contestants who received the fewest votes from the audience and had to face the risk of being eliminated. They had to give a last chance performances to attempt to win their coach's save to stay in the competition.
After choosing Ronan Keating’s hit “When You Say Nothing At All,” Anh was considered to be better than her previous performances. Still, her team’s coach, rocker Tran Lap, finally decided to send her home while her rival, Van Thang, went to the next round.
Together with Anh, Phuong Linh from coach Thu Minh’s team was also knocked out of the competition after her last performance while competing with contestant Duong Tran Nghia.
Many viewers were pleased with Tran lap choice, saying his decision is fair, while a number of other viewers disagreed since they thought Bao Anh improved from the previous round, while Thang stayed the same.
Earlier, there was a stir among netizens after the episode announcing the five finalists from team Tran Lap and Thu Minh was broadcast on September 30. On that the night, Bao Anh was also on the list of contestants facing elimination since her previous performance of Britney Spears’s hit “Everytime” was decried by many viewers.
However, a large number of viewers have since expressed their surprise upon seeing coach Tran Lap choose her for the next round while eliminating two other contestants, Nguyen Thi Thao Nguyen and Huynh Anh Tuan, whom many netizens considered better.
Immediately after the show was broadcast, musician Tran Lap and Bao Anh received a storm of criticism from netizens who said the coach chose Anh due to her beauty, not her voice.
For his part, Lap confirmed that he chose Anh without any bias, while Anh also responded to the public by saying that she deserved to be chosen.
