A Swiss choir will perform in Hanoi later today, October 8, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said Monday on its website.

The choir, from the Swiss canton of Fribourg, will stage its performance at 8:00 pm at Tuoi Tre (Youth) Theater at 11 Ngo Thi Nham Street, Hai Ba Trung District.

It will present beautiful melodies that honor peace, friendship, understanding, and tolerance among humans, as well as songs about children, such as “Good Night” and “'Les Enfants de la Garonne” (The Children of Garonne).

The choir will also visit parts of Vietnam to learn about local culture and take part in charity activities in several northern provinces, the Vietnamese culture ministry said.

The Fribourg choir was established in 1952 and is currently one of the most popular groups in Switzerland. It has specialized in performing folk songs about people living in the Alps, one of the great mountain ranges of Europe.

The group has previously performed in many countries including Russia, the U.S., Germany, Austria, Japan, Brazil, France, and Canada.
