-- Road accidents killed more than 8,600 people and injured over 19,000 in Vietnam last year, according to figures announced at a conference on Wednesday.

-- D.T.C, 53, from Cat Tien District in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, has accused a foreign man whose Facebook name is Addison Jacobs of cheating her out of more than VND366 million (US$16,195).

-- The People’s Committee of the central city of Da Nang on Wednesday decided to move households living in the polluted neighborhood of two local steel plants so as to ensure their safety. -- According to Dr. Tran Ngoc Tai from the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City, patients suffering Parkinson under 40 currently account for around five percent to ten percent, though the illness has been thought to attack older people only.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has requested educational agencies in the city to work with local authorities on bringing more pools into schools to improve students’ swimming skills, in an effort to prevent drowning.

-- Ho Chi Minh City has assigned a group of students from the University of Science under the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City to design a smartphone application which is able to work as a tour guide in local museums.

-- The World Heritage Committee has expressed concern over a cable car project in Son Doong Cave, the world’s largest cave in the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, located in the north-central province of Quang Binh, as they have worried that the project will destroy the cave.
