Vietnam will ensure the quality of all Vietnamese projects in Laos, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong pledged during talks with Laotian Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith in Hanoi on Tuesday.
The event were held as part of the Laotian leader’s two-day visit to Vietnam to co-chair the 39th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee on Wednesday.
At the talks with General Secretary Trong, PM Sisoulith affirmed that the Lao government will work closely with Vietnam in directing ministries, sectors and localities to implement agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders as well as those to be signed during the gathering, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
Replying to his guest, the Vietnamese Party chief praised the effective cooperation between the two governments in the past years.
General Secretary Trong suggested that the two sides focus on seeking active coordination measures to effectively realize the Vietnam-Laos Joint Statements, bilateral agreements and cooperation programs during the upcoming meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-Governmental Committee.
Both parties should review complete collaboration policies and mechanisms, Trong stated, adding that he would carry out practical methods to ensure the quality and progress of Vietnamese projects in Laos, and boost sustainable growth of economic ties.
He urged the two nations to strengthen connectivity in economy, transport infrastructure, and energy as well as create positive changes in education and training cooperation.
The two leaders expressed their delight at the development of special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, which contribute to the national construction and defense of each country.
They also pledged to maintain and promote the ties and educate younger generations on the special relations.
