Politics:

-- Vietnam wants Sri Lanka share its experiences in applying international laws in some fields as commercial dispute and maritime security and safety, Nguyen Sinh Hung -- chairman of the Vietnam’s National Assembly told his visiting counterpart Chamal Rajapaksa.

Society:

-- Health department of the central Binh Dinh Province granted wrong certificates of health insurance to over 17,000 people in three years from 2010-12, causing a misuse of VND3.5 billion (US$168,300).

-- Education experts said that the content of the schoolbooks in Vietnam is focusing much on theory but less on practice.

-- Authorities in the central province of Ha Tinh have punished five leaders of provincial departments and districts for their wrongdoings in granting investment certificates and deforestation.

-- The traffic law and regulations in Vietnam have had illogical items and a lack of clear articles which caused drivers and transport firms being fined for overload transport, according to a meeting held yesterday by Tuoi Tre newspaper.

-- Transport minister Dinh La Thang is determined to complete the two projects of expanding the National highway 1 from Thanh Hoa to Can Tho and the Ho Chi Minh Highway in 2016.

-- The market management department in Hanoi said it has not yet identified the origin of sturgeon fish sold in Metro markets if it is domestically raised or comes from China.
