Vietnamese State President Truong Tan Sang and his wife arrived in Prague on Sunday, starting his four-day visit to the Czech Republic, where he will attend a cooperation forum and other activities. The leader’s call was made at the invitation of his Czech counterpart Milos Zeman. The representatives of the Czech President Office, the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Czech Ambassador to Vietnam Martin Klepetko, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic, and the Vietnamese community in the European country welcomed President Sang and his wife at the Vaclav Havel Airport in Prague yesterday. During his stay, President Sang is scheduled to have talks with leaders of the host country and attend the Vietnam economic-tourism cooperation forum, according to the Vietnam News Agency. He will also take part in the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Culture Year 2015 and the inauguration of the Vietnam News Agency’s representative office. He is set to visit Karlovy Vary City and lay a wreath at the Vitkov National Monument.

Following his arrival, President Sang met with Vietnamese ambassadors and communities in some European countries, the news agency reported.

The leader highly valued the embassies’ activities in promoting Vietnam’s relations with the host countries and supporting Vietnamese citizens.

He also highlighted the solidarity, mutual support, and integration into the host nations by the Vietnamese communities. The president reiterated that the Party and State always consider expatriates an inseparable part of Vietnam and an important drive of the country’s development and prosperity. Vietnam set up diplomatic ties with the Czech Republic when the European country declared independence on January 1, 1993.
