Song Ngu, a highly-acclaimed seafood restaurant that has been part of Saigon's upscale dining experience for over 16 years, is celebrating Father's Day in style this coming June, with a great offer for fathers.
On Father's Day, Sunday 17 June 2012, all fathers or would-be fathers will be treated to a glass of wine on the house.
As an appetizer, choose from a tantalizing array of dishes including grilled shrimp paste on sugar cane; Song Ngu's special scallop salad served on scallop shells; abalone soup with crab meat; or the reassuringly delicious and crunchy seafood spring rolls.
Light entrées are even more tempting, especially for shellfish fans. They range from lobster sashimi to Song Ngu drunken tiger prawns, where luscious fresh prawns are cooked at your table by a flame created by lighting a plate of alcohol; or Vietnamese favorite “Cua rang me”: sautéed crab in pungent tamarind sauce. There are also crispy fried grouper sautéed in orange juice, and fresh clams steamed in coconut milk or lemongrass. Besides, Song Ngu takes pride in their double shell crabs, a special delicacy that very few restaurants have, cooked to your liking either steamed in beer, grilled or fried.
For main course, opt for an utterly sumptuous hotpot/steamboat, very good value from US$15 for a small one. Choose from Thai style steamboat, raw seafood steamboat, or steamboat with best king prawn from Mekong Delta.
All that will be accompanied by a carefully selected wine list, from fresh and supple Chablis William Fevre chardonnay, full-flavored Luis Felipe Reserve sauvignon blanc, to different types of red for those who prefer a twist by enjoying red wine with seafood.
And remember, if you are a father or prospective father, and enjoy any food on the exceptionally large menu at Song Ngu, on Sunday 17 June 2012, you will be given a complimentary glass of wine.
