The victim died shortly afterwards.

Business

-- Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Saturday directed that competent ministries make official announcements on the quality of fish sauce to allay public concerns and fish sauce associations’ outrage. Minister of Public Security To Lam has also affirmed that they are investigating possible wrongdoings regarding a recent survey that allegedly serves to help a manufacturer secure market advantages by publishing misleading findings about the condiment’s arsenic content.

-- The Vietnam Food Administration under the Ministry of Health on Saturday announced that the arsenic content of the 247 samples of traditional and industrial fish sauce taken from producers in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and the south-central provinces of Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan and Khanh Hoa, the condiment’s hub, is within the ministry’s permitted range.

-- A 47-year-old man and his 8-year-old daughter died in a fire that broke out early Saturday at their home in Cam Le District in the central city of Da Nang. His wife is in intensive care for critical injuries while their elder daughter has survived with less serious burns.
