Thais carrying gun captured at Vietnam airport

Saturday, March 05, 2016, 10:58 GMT+7

Security guards at an international airport in Vietnam arrested two Thai passengers as they found a pistol packed in their luggage on Friday.

Customs officers at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi discovered a firearm in the checked baggage of two passengers who took the flight QR 834 of Qatar Airways from Bangkok to the Vietnamese capital at 2:17 pm when scanning their belongings.

The individuals, whose nationality is Thai, were temporarily kept by the airport’s security guards and were transferred to Hanoi police for further investigation, focusing on the motivation for bringing the pistol to Vietnam.

Many have suspected that the two are terrorists, but the Noi Bai operator has refused such suspicion due to a lack of solid evidence for the time being.
