One more death from A/H1N1 in Vietnam

A 24-year-old woman in Ho Chi Minh City infected with A/H1N1 avian flu died from respiratory and heart failure on June 5, Cho Ray hospital has announced.

The deceased was a worker at the District 9 High-tech Park in the city and had contracted A/H1N1 after eating rice gruel with chicken, a doctor at the hospital confirmed.

The worker was reportedly admitted to a hospital in District 9 when she had very high fever and was 34 weeks pregnant. After delivering a 1.8kg baby boy at Tu Du hospital, she was rushed to Cho Ray hospital for emergency treatment.

She was the second death recorded in the city after the death of a 72-year-old man in early May, taking the national death toll from the virus strain so far this year to 6.

This is also second consecutive death from A/H1N1 within three days in Cho Ray hospital. On June 3, a 61-year-old man named L.K.S from Dong Thap southern province died at the hospital due to serious respiratory problems and heart failure.
