Three carmakers, namely Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and VinFast, will recall a large number of imported, locally-assembled cars and electric cars in Vietnam this month to fix faulty components.

Some 900 vehicles across six Mercedes-Benz models are subject to the recall due to a faulty fuel pump.

Among them, the locally-assembled Mercedes-Benz E-Class E180, E200, and E300 were manufactured between June 2021 and January 2023.

The carmaker will also recall 474 imported units, including Mercedes- Benz GLC300 4MATIC, S450 4MATIC, Maybach S450 4MATIC, GLS 450 4MATIC, Maybach GLS480 4MATIC, and Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC models produced from March 2022 to December 2022.

The company stated that the fuel pump in the affected cars might not meet specifications, potentially resulting in malfunctions, engine failures, or posing a risk of crashes.

Toyota issued a recall of 1,325 Land Cruiser LC300 and Lexus LX600 units to update the transmission control ECU (electronic control unit) software.

Toyota Vietnam affirmed that it had informed owners of the affected cars.

Vietnamese electric carmaker VinFast received the Vietnam Register’s green light for its plan to recall 6,000 VF5 Plus vehicles, which were made between March and December last year, to replace a combination switch.

VinFast added that the recall program will end on February 19, 2025.
