A Vietjet Air flight with close to 300 Taiwanese passengers on board arrived in Phu Quoc City off Kien Giang Province, southern Vietnam on Friday afternoon to start their five-day tour on the popular Vietnamese island.
The administration of Phu Quoc City confirmed the same day that the Vietjet flight VJ3321 landed at Phu Quoc International Airport at around 2:00 pm.
During their stay in the island city, the Taiwanese tourists are scheduled to explore An Thoi Island, take cable car rides to Hon Thom Island, visit the Vinpearl Safari, as well as enjoy a host of captivating music shows.
Tran Minh Khoa, chairman of the Phu Quoc administration, revealed that a large number of Taiwanese visitors have flocked to Phu Quoc since the beginning of the year.
The island city is expected to attract a significant number of international visitors during the ongoing National Day holiday from August 31 to September 3, the chairman elaborated.
The Phu Quoc international airport currently receives 20 to 25 flights daily that bring international tourists to the island for leisure and relaxation. This reflects the success of the city’s recent tourism promotion efforts.
The city will continue its collaboration with the Kien Giang Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Center and tourism businesses to offer more promotions and discounts to attract both domestic and international holidaymakers.
Data released by the provincial Department of Tourism showed that the southern province has served more than 7.6 million tourist arrivals from January to August, including over 660,000 international tourists, with total revenue estimated at over VND18 trillion (US$723 million).
