A convoy of VF 8 sports utility vehicles produced by Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast will conquer Tibet in China at freezing temperatures at an altitude of 4,500 meters above sea level.
A group of VinFast VF 8 owners are set to take a 16,000-kilometer trip to Tibet within 30 days.
They will depart from Hanoi on Tuesday and return to Vietnam on November 5.
The route connecting Vietnam to Tibet is considered challenging, with the convoy expected to navigate high, rugged terrain at altitudes of several thousand meters while facing freezing temperatures.
These harsh weather conditions could potentially impact the performance of the EV batteries.
Extreme living conditions, paired with low oxygen levels, will challenge these participants.
These cars are equipped with an SDI battery that allows each of them to travel for up to 400 kilometers on a single charge. |

GB/T to CCS2 charging adapters are a need for their journey as they allow any electric vehicle with a CCS2 connection to charge at GBT charging stations. VinFast cars meet CCS2 (combined charging system combo 2) European standards, while China uses the GB/T charging standard. |
An adapter is priced at some VND30 million (US$1,210). |
These members of the caravan revealed that the trip was aimed at testing the performance and endurance of the VinFast VF 8 in an extreme climate. |
