In an unprecedented move for Vietnam, two doctors from Ho Chi Minh City have been invited to contribute to one of the most prestigious books on in vitro fertilization (IVF) in the world.

MSc. Ho Manh Tuong, head of My Duc IVF Center in Ho Chi Minh City, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan, head of the faculty of medicine at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, represent Vietnam in compiling a chapter for the esteemed textbook on IVF, 'Textbook of Assisted Reproductive Techniques.'

This globally renowned textbook, with a history spanning over 20 years since its inception in 1999, serves as a comprehensive and classic reference in the reproductive support industry.

The sixth edition, a two-book set totaling over 900 pages, delves into crucial issues and techniques in assisted reproduction.

MSc. Tuong and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lan contribute to a chapter titled 'Use of in vitro maturation of oocytes in a clinical setting -- What is its role in ART?'

Tuong elaborates that the chapter extensively presents the developmental history, theoretical foundation, implementation regimen, and outcomes of the in vitro maturation technique (IVM).

The chapter not only discusses the advantages and disadvantages of IVM but also addresses barriers to its adoption and methods to overcome them.

Tuong emphasizes the significance of this book in the assisted reproductive technology industry thanks to valuable contributions from leading IVF experts.

The improved IVM regimen from Vietnam presented in the book is considered a noteworthy recent innovation in the global assisted reproductive technology landscape, potentially influencing practices in the years to come.

In Vietnam, My Duc IVF Center stands out for applying and refining innovative IVM protocols in infertility treatment.

Tuong notes that although Vietnam was initially lagging behind by 20 years in assisted reproduction, the nation has made continuous strides and is now emerging as a leader in a crucial assisted reproductive technique.

His involvement in writing a chapter for this technical book underscores the professional and academic standing of Vietnam’s reproductive support industry on the global stage.

The sixth edition of the book has recently been officially introduced worldwide, with an expected publication date in early 2024.
