A sleeper bus was engulfed in flames on a section of Vietnam’s National Highway 1 running through the north-central province of Thanh Hoa on Saturday.
At 1:00 pm, fire brigades managed to put the car fire under control.
The vehicle was operated by bus service provider Ngoc Dung.
At 11:00 am on that day, fire and smoke were found coming from the sleeper bus’ underside while it was passing the Nguyet Vien Bridge, reports said.
The driver immediately pulled the bus over and asked all passengers to vacate the vehicle.
Thanh Hoa authorities sent one water tanker and firefighters promptly on two fire trucks to the scene.
But the fire burned down the whole vehicle as well as belongings and passenger freight, thanks in part to scorching weather and an abundance of flammable material on the bus.
There were no casualties reported in the incident, however.
A Ngoc Dung representative said the bus departed from Bac Ninh Province at 7:00 am and was heading to Nghe An Province before it caught fire.
There were some 15 people on the bus including passengers and the bus crew at the time of the incident.
