Six crew members managed to escape from a huge fire which engulfed a tourist boat in the waters of Hai Phong City in northern Vietnam on Wednesday afternoon, confirmed a local official.
The incident took place at around 5:15 pm when the boat, registered to neighboring Quang Ninh Province, was docked at the Dau Chu beach for repairs, a representative of the Phu Long Commune People’s Committee in Cat Hai District told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper the same day.

Local border guards and firefighters were dispatched to the scene of the fire, whose column of smoke was nearly a hundred meters high.
It took an hour to extinguish the blaze, and the wooden boat suffered significant damage.
All the six crew members were taken to the local administrative headquarters for medical care.
Police are investigating the cause of the incident.
