Vehicles, including 27 public buses, will be diverted from a series of streets in downtown Ho Chi Minh City until December 23 to accommodate a large-scale firefighting and rescue drill at the underground Ben Thanh Station of the city’s nearly-finished first metro line.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has announced a 17-day traffic restriction in District 1 to facilitate essential firefighting and rescue exercises at Ben Thanh Station, a key hub on metro line No. 1.

The line connects Ben Thanh Market in District 1 to Suoi Tien Theme Park in Thu Duc City and currently boasts a completion rate of over 96 percent.

The traffic restrictions will be in effect from December 4 to 18, and from 5:00 am to 7:30 am on December 20.

On December 21 and 23, the ban will be in place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

During this period, the department advises that individuals who need to traverse the affected routes adhere to guidance provided by traffic police, traffic controllers, or road signals and signs.

The Ho Chi Minh City Management Center of Public Transport is also modifying the routes of 27 public bus services in response to the drill.
