Apparel company fined $11,800 for unauthorized wastewater discharge in northern Vietnam

The People's Committee of Hung Yen Province in northern Vietnam has just fined Sweet Land - Tex Production Company Limited VND300 million (US$11,809) for its unauthorized wastewater discharge.

According to the provincial administration, Sweet Land - Tex Production Company Limited in the Pho Noi Textile and Garment Industrial Park in Yen My District committed administrative violations in environmental protection, specifically releasing wastewater into the local rainwater drainage system.

The Hung Yen administration also required the company and Pho Noi Textile and Garment Infrastructure Development JSC, the operator of the industrial park, to take corrective actions.

On April 10, the Hung Yen authorities levied an administrative fine of VND350 million ($13,800) on Dai Hoa Textile-Garment Company, located in the Pho Noi B Industrial Park, for discharging wastewater into the rainwater drainage system in the area.

The company, whose legal representative is a Chinese national named Huang Yifeng, was also told to take remedial actions as per prevailing regulations.
