A crash between three vehicles on Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway in northern Vietnam left two dead and six others injured on Thursday morning.
The deadly accident happened around 9:00 am on an expressway section in Gia Loc District, Hai Duong Province.
The vehicles involved in the pile-up include a 16-seater passenger coach, a pickup truck, and a car, according to the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security.
After being notified of the collision, the province’s traffic police officers promptly approached the scene for rescue efforts.
The officers broke a door of a vehicle to save a victim trapped inside it, and took the injured to the nearest hospital for emergency treatment.
The crash left the car and the passenger coach deformed.
Besides, the collision blocked two lanes of the expressway section leading to Hai Phong City, causing a snarl-up.
Police are working to investigate the cause of the crash.
The 105-kilometer-long Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway allows for a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour.
