Sleeper bus catches fire on expressway in south-central Vietnam

A sleeper bus with 36 passengers on board burst into flames while traveling along the Cam Lam - Vinh Hao Expressway in Ninh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam on Thursday afternoon.

No injuries or deaths were reported.

A local police agency was notified of the fire at around 4:45 pm by Nguyen Duc Vu, 55, a driver assistant on the bus, which was registered in the central province of Quang Nam.

Dozens of firefighters and two fire trucks were dispatched to the scene of the incident, where they managed to put out the blaze at approximately 5:20 pm the same day.

The 44-seater vehicle, driven by Tran Dinh Quoc Phong, a 40-year-old native of Quang Nam, was en route from Ho Chi Minh City to Quang Nam at the time of the fire.

No one was injured in the incident but the sleeper bus and all assets inside were destroyed.

The cause of the bus fire is currently under investigation.
