Many areas of Phu Quoc Island, off the coast of Kien Giang Province in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, were inundated on Tuesday morning following torrential rains.
Downpours, strong winds, and thunderstorms are forecast for the coast of Ca Mau Province and Phu Quoc Island on Tuesday, according to the provincial weather center.
By 8:00 am, local residents had begun posting images and videos on social media showing flooded streets, including Tran Phu, Cach Mang Thang 8, and Nguyen Trung Truc.

Severe flooding plagued commuters and plunged many houses into disarray. One resident Nguyen Van Hau, said the rainfall started at 1:00 am, with strong currents preventing residents from wading through.
The Phu Quoc City People’s Committee reported that prolonged rainfall has left several parts of the city submerged.
In response, local authorities swiftly deployed emergency teams to flood-hit areas to assist residents and ensure their safety.
On account of the hazardous and unpredictable weather, the provincial maritime agency has suspended ferry and express boat services between Rach Gia City, Ha Tien City, and Phu Quoc City, as well as the route from Rach Gia City to Nam Du Island.
