The Department of Tourism of Hanoi on Friday announced free service for visitors taking the city’s popular double-decker bus tour during the ongoing five-day holiday break.

The break lasts from April 29 to May 3 to mark Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Reunification Day, and International Workers’ Day.

Hung Kings Commemoration Day, which takes place on the 10th day of the third lunar month, falls on April 29 this year, and is immediately followed by Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1).

The free rides, which are available from April 29 to May 3, are applied for the city tour buses run by the Hanoi Transport Corporation and the Vietnamtourism-Hanoi JSC.

Accordingly, the Hanoi Transport Corporation offers three buses operating from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm everyday.

Each trip is 70 minutes apart, with the departure point and destination being the Hanoi Opera House.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamtourism-Hanoi JSC operates one bus from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm. Each trip is 90 minutes apart, with the departure point and destination being the 19-8 Garden.

The tours are designed to take visitors around the capital city's attractions such as Hoan Kiem Lake, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), and more.

In order to make it easier for tourists to visit the attractions of Hanoi, the capital city has adjusted a number of its bus routes to give them best access to local attractions.

The Hanoi Department of Transport has also planned to increase the number of parking lots in the vicinity of local tourist attractions, as well as to divert traffic from the gateways of Hanoi to key tourist areas in the inner city.

Tourists are advised to use applications such as Busmap, Timbus, and Vinbus to keep track of their routes.

Hanoi is also offering 80,000 gifts to tourists visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum during the holiday, with each including one bread and one bottle of water or milk.
